What is book fulfillment?

Book fulfillment is outsourced storage, packing and shipping for publishers and authors. Matrix receives your books from the printer in Los Angeles, tracks every title and format by barcode, and ships each order the same day when it arrives by 2 PM Pacific.

How do you keep books from getting damaged in shipping?

We use mailers and boxes sized for books and pack each order to protect corners, covers and spines, so books arrive the way they left the printer.

Can you handle pre-orders and launch day?

Yes. Share your release date with your account manager and we hold pre-orders, then ship them together on launch day so readers get the book at the same time.

Do you ship Kickstarter and crowdfunding rewards?

Yes. Send us your backer list and reward tiers, and we pack and ship each reward from your inventory with tracking.

Can you ship to bookstores and retailers?

Yes. We ship case packs to bookstores and retail partners from the same inventory as your direct orders, with EDI through SPS Commerce when a retailer requires it.

How much does book fulfillment cost?

Pick and pack starts at $1.50 per order plus $0.35 per additional item, dropping as low as $0.50 per order at volume. Bin storage is $0.25 per day, and there are no setup or platform fees.

How fast can we switch to Matrix?

We onboard publishers and authors within 24 to 48 hours: your store is connected right away, and same-day shipping starts as soon as your books are received and counted.

Is there a contract or minimum?

No. Matrix is month-to-month with 30 days' notice and no order minimums.
