What is lot tracking?

Lot tracking means recording the production lot, or batch number, of every unit you receive and keeping lots separate in inventory. When an order ships, the lot that went out is recorded with it.

What does FEFO mean?

FEFO stands for first-expired, first-out. When more than one lot of a SKU is in stock, the lot with the earliest expiration or best-by date is picked first.

How is FEFO different from FIFO?

FIFO ships whatever arrived first. FEFO ships whatever expires first. For supplements, a newer shipment can carry an earlier date, so FEFO keeps the oldest dates moving out.

Why does lot tracking matter for supplements?

Supplements carry lot numbers and dates. Tracking them helps you rotate stock, avoid shipping short-dated product and answer questions about a specific batch.

Can you tell me which orders received a specific lot?

Yes. Because the lot is recorded with each order in ShipHero WMS, we can look up which orders shipped from a given lot, which helps if you ever need to trace a batch.
