Product bundling is a merchandising strategy where a brand packages several products into one offer. Shoppers buy the bundle as a single item instead of adding each product to the cart separately.
Common examples include a skincare routine set, a supplement stack, a three-pack of socks or a coffee sampler with a mug.
Bundles can be set up in two ways. In a virtual bundle, the store sells the bundle as one listing, but the warehouse receives the order as the individual component SKUs and picks each one. In a pre-kitted bundle, the warehouse assembles the bundle in advance and stores it as its own SKU.
For example, a gummy vitamin brand sells a sleep, energy and immunity three-pack. If it is virtual, the order shows three SKUs and the picker grabs one of each. If it is pre-kitted, the three bottles are already packed together in a branded sleeve and the picker grabs one finished unit.
Bundle setup has to match across the store, the integration and the warehouse system so inventory is reduced correctly for each component.
Bundles raise average order value, move slower SKUs alongside bestsellers and make gifting easy. They also help shoppers who are unsure what to buy by offering a ready-made choice.
On the operations side, the key decision is virtual versus pre-kitted. Virtual bundles are flexible and need no assembly. Pre-kitted bundles ship faster and can look more polished, which matters for gifts and premium sets.

A virtual bundle is sold as one listing but fulfilled as separate component SKUs that are picked individually at the time of the order.
Yes. Each bundle sold should reduce the inventory of every component inside it, which requires accurate mapping between the store and warehouse system.
Pre-kitting makes sense for high-volume bundles, gift sets and premium packaging where speed and presentation matter.
